Forgetful
I was having a look through my illustration files earlier and found a couple of drawings that I had forgotten about. I quite like them so I thought I would share them with you

Día de los Muertos
While taking a break for the past few days, I decided to do a bit of illustration. I have been meaning to try out a Día de los Muertos themed character for a while so that's what I did and I can feel it wont be the last.
As for my film I am going to make a trailer for it so all you peeps can get a glimpse. The scenes I didn't get to shoot will be done mid July and if there is time a couple of re-shoots. I really want to show people but I have to keep it off the internet if I'm going to enter it into festivals. I think I'll just have to see how it goes.

Character design for the old mender
I have got my final design for the old mender. He is pretty much based on the character Albert Arkwright from the classic 1970's series 'Open All Hours'. He has such a great personality and so many great features.
I just have to make up a model sheet for him and also decide whether I am going to make his clothes or sculpt them straight on to the body so it's all the same piece.

A very quick drawing to get the feel off the shape and detail in his face.
First draft for final

Here's an illustration I did to help me visualize the mood and setting of the film. I am very pleased with how this came out and it will help when design the rest of the film.

Concept
Over the few months of holiday I have been constantly racking my brain for a nice story for a short film in my final year at uni. I'm still not quite there with ideas but I have fallen in love with this little chap. I am going to keep on developing him and see where it leads me.

Developing a new style
While doing this recent module I have been experimenting with a new style of cut out illustration with the intention of being able to fuse it with stop motion. It has been a fun and interesting medium to work with. I think I have developed it to a strong enough point at the moment and found it will definitely be useful with animation. I have decided that I am going to leave developing this style while I am working on my final film, it's tried and tested. It's available for me to use when ever needed for future projects.
